Auction is now open for pre-bidding at alderferauction.com until Thursday, November 6th at 10AM, at which time pre-bidding will cease and the auction will go live at the auction center (no live audience, just our auctioneer and auction staff)

The jewelry collection features museum-quality pieces including an Art Deco platinum brooch set with diamonds and emeralds, platinum rings featuring rubies and diamonds, and signed pieces from Tiffany & Co. and J.E. Caldwell. Multiple 18K and 14K gold items showcase period craftsmanship across Victorian, Edwardian, and Art Deco eras.

American silver represents some of the finest makers, with a Gorham Plymouth sterling tea and coffee service retailed by J.E. Caldwell taking prominence. The collection includes important pieces by Black, Starr, and Frost, Tiffany centerpiece bowls, and a J.E. Caldwell Egyptian Revival centerpiece bowl from 1917. Flatware services feature patterns by Dominick and Haff, Gorham, and rare Tiffany Strawberry Pierced and Olympian pattern pieces with gold-washed details. Coin silver by Edward Lownes, S. Kirk and Son, and J.E. Caldwell documents early American craftsmanship.

The numismatic collection offers significant depth in colonial currency from Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and New Jersey, alongside rare gold coins including Liberty Head eagles and an 1894 Morgan dollar proof. An 1894 Barber fifty-cent proof and other 1894 proofs represent exceptional preservation.

Fine art includes works by Thomas Bigelow Craig and John Henry Dolph, alongside Pennsylvania folk art featuring frakturs attributed to the Bird in the Border artist and an important watercolor by Jean François Soiron. British sailor's woolie embroidery and period samplers document textile arts.

The Japanese lacquer collection features museum-quality inro by important makers including pieces from the Kajikawa lineage, Shokasai, and Toyo after Hakugyoku. These represent some of the finest examples of Edo period craftsmanship with gold and silver maki-e decoration and mixed metal inlays.

The doll and miniature collection represents decades of sophisticated collecting, featuring rare German bisque dolls, a Tete Jumeau, Schoenhut wooden dolls, Chase dolls, and early Steiff bears. An elaborate miniature diorama of a general store demonstrates exceptional attention to detail. The collection includes hundreds of pieces of miniature furniture, household items, and accessories representing multiple periods and styles.

Additional highlights include a Chester County Pennsylvania Chippendale tall chest dated 1767, high wheel Columbia bicycles from the 1880s, extensive toy train collections by Lionel and German makers, and historic Staffordshire pottery. This comprehensive estate offers collectors across multiple specialties the opportunity to acquire pieces from a collection formed with exceptional knowledge and taste.
